Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is familiarization with practical possibilities of solving interpersonal communication problems, verbal and non-verbal means with emphasis on model situations in which a worker in building industry can encounter. Another objective of the subject is the introduction to the theory of communication and its practical use, intentional regulation of one´s own communicative behaviour and behaviour of other participants of the communication process and mastering of assertive and tactic actions. After passing the subject successfully students are able to describe basic terms related to the field of interpersonal communication. Students know the main communication competences, they are able to interpret the ways of their use and to explain their importance for a successful performance of their profession.
Syllabus
  • ­1. Substance of communication, particularity of verbal and nonverbal communication, subjective and objective communication factors.
  • 2. Particularity of productor and receptor in building environment communication.
  • 3. Communication strategy types usable for communication in building industry.
  • 4. Tactical behaviour characteristics by the civil engineering employee.
  • 5. Assertive behaviour characteristics in the civil engineering employee.
  • 6. Communication strategy applied to the chief executive role, communication strategy of a subordinate.
  • 7. Communication strategy among identity position staff.
  • 8. Dictionary, syntactical and stylistic modification of language communication.
  • 9. Vocal modification of communication.
  • 10. Nonverbal communication function and its relation to verbal communication part in building industry.
  • 11. Problems and their causes in communication of civil engineering staff.
  • 12. Communication principles saving successful behaviour of building working team.
  • 13. Intentional and unintentional communication, communication resolve and its realization in practice.
