- The aim of the course is to acquaint students with strategic management, systems of management and strategic methods. The successful graduate has the basic knowledge of strategic management of the business community affected by the scientific, technical and socio-economic progress and development in the 21st century. He can independently perform characteristics of the enterprise including evaluation of the effectiveness of results by means of using strategic methods of internal and external business environment.
- Learning outcomes
- - students can define an enterprise as a system, - students understand the strategic management paradigm, - students know the developmental phases of strategic management, - students understand the basic terms of strategic management (strategy, strategic management process and its phase); - students understand the hierarchy and classification of strategies - students know the principles of corporate strategy formation, - students understand the principles of strategic analysis, - students know the principles of projection of modern organizational structures, - students understand the concept of a competitive advantage, - students can apply basic methods for evaluation the internal and external business environment (internal and external strategic analysis) - students know principles of selected managerial methods.

- 1. Enterprise as a system, business environment - internal, external, factors that change the business environment, manager as a strategist 2. The development of strategic management, stages of development and basic concepts: strategy, strategic management, strategic thinking and decision making 3. The process of strategic management, strategy hierarchy (complex enterprise strategy - corporate strategy, business strategy, sub-strategies) 4. Models of strategic management, strategic situational analysis - external analysis, internal analysis, SWOT analysis, strategic methods for evaluation of the internal and external environment 5. Classification strategies

- 7. Formulation, selection, and implementation strategies
- 8. Projections of modern organizational structures

- The condition for achieving the subject is demonstrating presentation of one analysis used for evaluation of internal or external business environment and submitting a set of seminar papers. The maximum number of points which can be obtained from one term test is 15 points. The same number of points, i.e. 15 points, can be obtained for the set of seminar papers. Grading of the course: First Test and Project: maximum 30% (0-30 points), Final Test: maximum 70% (0-70 points). Successful graduates of the course have to get totally at least 70 points: A 100 – 90, B 89,99 – 84, C 83,99 – 77, D 76,99 – 73, E 72,99 – 70, FX 69,99 – 30, F 29,99 - 0.
