The student has the essential knowledge of English language at the level of A1 and is able to perform basic communication skills based on the elementary knowledge of the language.

Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The target of the course AED_2 is to extend the basic skills necessary for the common communication in the studied language. After the successful completion of the course, the students achieve the following skills:

- acquisition of sufficient vocabulary needed for the oral and written communication in daily situations on usual topics
- ability to understand short texts concerning the given topics
- skill to find the particular and predictable information in these texts
- ability to apply grammar rules in practice
- enhancement of English phonetical knowledge
The students are prepared to gradually achieve the fixed output level of A1+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in their productive and receptive skills at the end of the semester. The range of the set topics involves units 4-6 of the required literature.

Assessment Methods and Assesment Rate
Test – final 70 %
Presentation 30 %
Exam conditions
It is necessary to pass a final test (35 questions, each question is for 2 points, maximum of 70 points in total). In addition a student is allowed to achieve up to 30 points in a voluntary oral presentation on a topic from the textbook. The course assessment: pass - 100-70 point, possible re-take - 69.99 - 30 points, fail - 29.99 - 0 points.
