Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The course objective is to present the basics of a scientific paper and their application for the preparation of the diploma thesis. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to process a selected topic using their own professional skills and knowledge, professional literature, and internal materials of companies; they will be able to formulate the conclusions and defend them.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course the student:
• can develop theoretical principles into practical issues, • with the use of theoretical foundations and processed research can process the application part of the diploma thesis,
• knows the methods of implementation of scientific methods for the problem,
• learn the principles of processing the experimental part of the diploma thesis,
• is capable of independent creative and research activities,
• can define, solve and evaluate research questions, hypotheses,
• learn the methods of collecting primary and secondary information,
• can specify the benefits and novelty of solving the problem,
• can present and defend a qualification thesis.
Syllabus
  • Seminars:
  • Recapitulation of the requirements for the thesis - expert opinion (its form, scope and factual correctness). Definition of the characteristics of an expert report and its structuring
  • Analysis of the expert question
  • Literature research on the topic
  • Collection of data necessary for the preparation of the expert opinion Development of the methodology of the expert report
  • Results
  • Answer to the expert question(s)
  • Conclusion of the expert opinion
  • Ongoing consultation on the preparation of the expert report: ongoing comments on the text, evaluation of the student's performance, preparation of the defence of the report

Exam conditions
Submission of the DP according to the DP schedule of the semester. Credit is awarded based on the following conditions: Compliance with the current methodological guidelines and the current template for writing the DP, attendance at consultations with the DP supervisor, a positive evaluation from the supervisor and a recommendation for the defence.
