Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The subject introduces students the basic principles of the strategic management and its application in business management practice. The basic terminology together with the different phases of the corporate strategy is introduced. The students will acquire basic knowledge of the chosen strategic analyses for evaluation of the internal and external business environment (SWOT analysis, Porter's five-force model, The method of determining strategic alternatives, The competition analysis, Analysis of the attractiveness of the business sector, Portfolio analysis - BCG matrix, Acquiring competitive advantage, The strategic hours, SPACE analysis, STEP analysis, Analysis of the sources of specific opportunities). The above-mentioned strategic analysis are further enhanced by a new analysis that deepen both theoretical knowledge and practical skills of students in particular about internal company resources, but also about changing conditions of the external business environment.

  • The process of strategic management, strategy hierarchy (complex enterprise strategy - corporate strategy, business strategy, sub-strategies)

  • Analysis of the attractiveness of the business sector, Life cycle analysis of the branch of business
