- Course objectives can be divided into two parts.
The objectives of the part dealing with the environment protection, is to provide an overview of the individual components of environment and the resulting requirements that must be imposed to protect the environment and also the tools to meet the environmental quality.
After successfully completing the course, student / student will be able (s):
define the terms used in the study of environmental pollution i due to anthropogenic activities or processes taking place in the environment ;
describe the characteristics of standard protective measures for the protection of individual components
enumerate the basic legislation on environmental protection and demonstrate the ability to navigate in it;
evaluate and propose method of evaluation of environmental impact
propose alternative procedures to eliminate or reduce the adverse effects of in terms of creation and environmental protection?
The aim of the second part that deals with the healthrisks of buildings, is to provide an overview of the internal microclimate of buildings and the factors affecting and the resulting requirements that must be imposed to meet the health structures and also to meet the requirements on the quality of indoor air.
After successfully completing the course, student / student will be able (s):
microclimate inside buildings, define and explain the consequences of pollution or deterioration of indoor air of building due to defects or poor choice of materials and other processes taking place in the indoor environment;
describe the characteristics of the pollutants in the air and characteristics of harmful building materials from health perspective;
enumerate the basic legislation to air protection, health, capacity building materials in relation to safety and demonstrate the ability to orient oneself in it;
assess indoor air, find the causes of pollution and recommend measures;
suggest ways to eliminate or reduce adverse impacts from the health - Syllabus
- 1.Basic considerations, sick building syndrome ;
- 2.Microclimate of residential environment, factors affecting microclimate of indoor environment;;
- building materials, defects in construction, human activities, outdoor microclimate;;
- 3.Building materials as a source of toxic substances, formaldehyde and other volatile substances, asbestos, heavy metals, phthalates, radionuclide;;
- 4.Evaluation of building materials and construction wastes from the health point of view;;
- 5.Radon danger , radon index, protection of buildings against radon;;
- 6.Danger from asbestos;
- 7.Pollutants in indoor air-sources and their minimalization;;
- 8.Aerosol, dust in the domestic environment, composition, size and impacts on ealth;
- 9.Biological factors of health hazards in buildings- causes mould occurrences, the risk factors;;
- 10.Optimalization microclimatic microbial invasion of micro-organisms- attacking the source and the infected places;;
- 11.Disinfection of the area infested by micro-organisms;
- 12.Protective measures against insects and des insection;;
- 13.Set of existing legislative measures to protect human health against adverse effects of buildings and structures and materials and building structures

Semester task 20 % - Exam conditions
- A paper on an assigned topic must be submitted by 13th week , mid-term test in 9th week. Submission of paper and passing the mid-term tešst test are prerequisites for final test. The test is written.. Score corresponds to the percentage distribution of student assessment methods (report up to 20 points, mid-term up to 10 test points and test up to 70 points). Grading Scale: A 100-91B., B 90-81b., C 80-71b., D 70-61b., E 60-55b., F less than 55b.
