The course focuses on understanding corporate, managerial and professional social responsibility and the importance of ethics in economics, business and the performance of professional activities, with an emphasis on expert activity. It introduces the main areas of voluntarily accepted corporate social responsibility, ethics of managers and members of professional and expert professions, as well as the nature of general and specific ethical standards in the work of experts. Attention is paid to the codes of ethics of experts, expert organizations and professional chambers, their composition, main topics and the way of their creation, the expert's relationship to society, to the client, to the profession, to fellow experts and expert institutions. Students will also get acquainted with the main and typical ethical dilemmas in expertise, and ways to solve them. The topics of the course also include differences in codes of ethics within different expert branches and the most common weaknesses in the ethical conduct of experts and expert institutions. The subject of the course is also the main topics of legal regulation of expertise, unlawful conduct of experts, including ways and tools of their enforcement, especially on the basis of examples.
Výstupy z učení
Upon successful completion of the course, the students:
- Apply the theoretical knowledge of psychology as a science in practice.
- Understand the importance of social responsibility and ethics in expertise including the ethical dimension of expert work.
- Apply the knowledge of the main area of experts´ social responsibility and the principles of experts´ professional ethics.
- Understand the nature, importance, and types of the common standards of expertise ethics and their ethical context.
- Understand the meaning and the nature of the ethical management tools in the context of expertise.
- Have a command of the creation and implementation of expert and expert organizations´ code of ethics.
- Understand particular and specific ethical topics associated with expert activities including legal responsibility.

  • 1. Basic ethical concepts, the relationship between economics and morality, the importance of ethics in economics, business ethics, personal and professional ethics and ethics in professional activities, their definition and meaning.
  • 2. Social responsibility of experts, ethics in expertise and ethical dimension of expert work, meaning and types of general ethical norms in expert's work, ethical requirements for communication and expressions of experts, ethical expertise.
  • 3. Ethical dimensions of the expert's relationship with clients and third parties, ethics in accepting and performing expert contracts.
  • 4. Honour, credibility, integrity and impartiality of the expert, their meaning and content.
  • 5. Importance and nature of tools of ethical management of expertise, functions of professional chambers and expert institutes.
  • 6. Topics of codes of ethics governing the activities of experts.
  • 7. Creation and enforcement of ethical codes of experts and expert organizations.
  • 8. Codes of ethics in the practice of individual expert sectors: comparisons and examples.
  • 9. Codes of ethics in the practice of expert professions: comparisons and examples.
  • 10. The most common weaknesses and errors in the ethical management of expertise, the ethical conduct of experts and the code of ethics of the expert organization.

Podmínky testu
To successfully complete the course, it is necessary to achieve at least 70% of the final evaluation under the conditions set out below. In the final evaluation, a total of 100 points can be obtained, i.e. 100%. Overall classification of the course, i.e. points for the final evaluation (100 - 0): A 100 - 90, B 89.99 - 84, C 83.99 - 77, D 76.99 - 73, E 72.99 - 70, FX 69.99 - 30, F 29.99 - 0.

The student of the full-time form of study is obliged to fulfil the obligatory 70% attendance at the contact teaching (lectures and seminars). If the participation is not met, the student will be automatically classified "-".

The attendance in the lessons in all forms of study is dealt with by a special internal standard (Registration of VŠTE students' attendance). The student of the full-time form of study is obliged to fulfill the obligatory 70% attendance at the contact teaching (lectures and seminars). Attendance at lectures is monitored for full-time studies.If the participation is not met, the student will be automatically classified as "-".
Students with an individual study plan will take only a 100-point final test in the exam period. However, students are obliged to contact the teacher immediately after the approval of the individual study plan (ISP), if the student does not do so, his ISP will not be taken into account.
