Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is the acquisition of the professionaly focused language skills and knowledge. The acquired productive and receptive skills are in accordance with the descriptor of B1+ level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, including the grammatical rules.
Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes are the acquisition of the professionaly focused language skills and knowledge. The acquired productive and receptive skills are in accordance with the descriptor of B1+ level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, including the grammatical rules. After the successful completion of the course, the student masters the language skills in order to: - describe professionally oriented situations, express in an efficient way the main essence of the idea or the problem; - talk professionally about the given topics. The student is able to communicate and can take an opinion on the given matter. The student uses the professional vocabulary (with only a little hesitation and using the periphrastic forms) his/her opinion within the scale of the given topics. The student is able to maintain the discussion on the current topics and to apply his/her knowledge in practice.

  • ­1. engineering – an important sector of the national economy, focused at car industry 2. technology advances in a historical context – focused at particular car factory or at a producer of bicycles 3. the structure of an industrial enterprise - focused at particular car factory or at IT technologies 4. the management of a selected engineering plant – focused at home technologies or IT technologies 5. work safety in a factory – focused at power engineering 6. looking for work ina an industrial company – focused at car industry or home technologies 7. the statistics of an industrial enterprise, the description and interpretation of graphs – focused at home technologies or IT technologies 8. working with current professional texts from the field of engineering, the training in processing texts and detailed understanding, student presentations 9. the professional text – focused at environment and technologies 10. the professional text – focused at waste and technologies 11. technical oral communication in power engineering or car industry 12. technical written communication in power engineering or car industry 13. the engineering fair – the presentation of engineering company principles

Exam conditions
Full-time form of study:

Grading of the course both for full-time students: an exam during the semester, written test in the examination period. Successful graduates of the course have to get at least 70 points (from both parts together).

Continuous evaluation:

Semester test 30 %

Final test:

Final test using ROPOT in the IS (70 %)

Combined form of study:

Grading of the course both for part-time students: written test in the examination period. Successful graduates of the course have to get at least 70 points.

Lessons will be online via MS Teams in accordance with the schedule.

Attendance in lessons is defined in a separate internal standard of ITB (Evidence of attendance of students at ITB). It is compulsory, except of the lectures, for full-time students to attend 70 % lesson of the subjet in a semester.
