- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issues of organizing and managing sustainable railway transport. Students will gain knowledge of the historical development of this transport sector and its position within the overall transport system. They will also become familiar with key regulations for organizing and managing railway transport, including the management of local and network transport processes and the fundamental element of railway transport management – the sustainable train timetable. Upon completing the course, students will be able to apply legislative knowledge in railway transport organization and will be capable of creating transport service plans for regions through timetable construction.
- Learning outcomes
- The student, upon completing the course, will be able to apply the principles of creating a graphical timetable, focusing on optimizing energy efficiency and supporting sustainability. They will also be able to apply the basics of determining railway infrastructure capacity, taking into account the minimization of environmental impacts. Furthermore, the student will understand the functions of transport schedules and tariffs in railway transport and design them in accordance with the objectives of the European Green Deal, promoting eco-friendly mobility and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

- 1) Introduction to Environmental Aspects of Railway Transport.
- 2) Basic Concepts in Sustainable Railway Transport.
- 3) Legal Framework for Railway Operations and Environmental Protection Legislation.
- 4) Ecological Railway Network and Modernization of Signaling Systems.
- 5) Railway Vehicle Fleet – Greening of Transport Means.
- 6) Organization of railway traffic, traffic and signal regulations.
- 7) Local traffic processes (marshalling stations).
- 8) Network traffic processes (train formation).
- 9) Railroad Graphics - Tools.
- 10) Principles of the creation of the scheduled timetable and the basis for determining the capacity of the railway infrastructure.
- 11) Information systems in rail transport.
- 12) Passenger transport and high-speed transport.
- 13) Transportation rules and tariffs in rail transport.
