Either the essential skills of Czech language are necessary. The incoming student can be a total beginner.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The course is prepared for foreign students. The aim of the course is reaching of A1 level of their Czech language according to the descriptor of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. After the completion of the course, the students will gain the following language skills:
- the students understand basic phrases which are needed for everyday communication and can use these expressions and phrases
- can introduce themselves and other people and ask simple questions concerning well known: places, people and things and react to similar questions
- they can read simple texts (notices, signs, etc.)
- they can write a simple text in Czech language (holiday postcard, fill in a simple form, etc.)
- they are introduced with culture and everyday life in the Czech Republic
- they are able to perceive the intercultural differences between their native country and the Czech Republic
Learning outcomes
Student can give personal information (address, telephone number, nationality, age, family and hobbies). He/She can discuss with other people what to do, where to go, and make arrangements to meet. He/She can describe past activities and experiences. He/She can write about aspects of his/her everyday life in simple phrases and sentences. He/She understand numbers, prices and times.

  • 6) The Czech Republic, Budweis.
  • 7) At school, at the school canteen -prepositions, conjuctions.
  • 8) Time, days, months.
  • 9) My family.
  • 10) Signs.
  • 11) Food and drink.
  • 12) Travel.
  • 13) Services, shopping.

Exam conditions
The written final test is evaluated within the scope of 0 - 70 points and comprises of 35 questions (2 points for each correct answer). To pass, the student must earn a 70% or higher (i.e. 49 points at least). The grading scale for the final test is as follows: 70 - 49 points = pass mark, 48 - 21 points = failed with possibility to repeat the test, 20 - 0 points = failed without possibility to repeat the test (i.e bellow 30%). The students can earn up to 30 points in the oral presentation. The maximum number of points the students can earn from both the written test and the presentation is 100. To pass, the student must earn a minimum of 70 points (total of test and oral presentation points): A 100 – 90, B 89,99 – 84, C 83,99 – 77, D 76,99 – 73, E 72,99 – 70, FX 69,99 – 30, F 29,99 - 0.
