The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
Students will get practical skills in operating a personal computer with MS Windows in the course "Computer Science I" . The term demonstrates the ability to work effectively with the most popular office suite of MS Office for good professional writing (Seminar and Bachelor's) work.
Syllabus
  • 1. Work in network - security, rules for using academic net, Authors' Act, licences
  • 2. Principles of PC use - OS MS Windows, file manager and manipulation with files and directories, searching, build-in applications, clipboard, compression (WinZip, WinRar)
  • 3. e-mail - basic information, e-mail at VSTE, attachements, rules of security, SPAM
  • 4. Internet - history and structure of Internet, connection to Internet, services on Internet, domain and IP address, www, searching, FTP, IRC, applications for communication (ICQ, Skype, Windows Messenger), virus, malvare, adware, spyware, hacking, …
  • 5. Word processor WORD - Computer typografie, paragraph, styles, header and footer
  • 6. Word processor WORD - styles – principles of use, editing, table of content, text editing(speller, find - replace, automatic corrections)
  • 7.Word processor WORD - graphics, tables, objects insertion (MS equation, graphs, images)
  • 8. Word processor WORD – writing rules, lists and literature citation, print
  • 9. Table editor Excel - table editing, cell format, lists, objects
  • 10. Table editor Excel - equations and functions
  • 11. Table editor Excel - graphs

Exam conditions
Tests of the knowledge and practical skills on PC during the semester. Seminar work – a self created electronic document which will correspond in terms of processing with the content of this course and in terms of content with student profiling. When processing this work, the student will proceed in accordance with the methodology for the creation of undergraduate work on VŠTE. For the successful completion of this course, you must acquire at least 50% points from each part (each test, semester work) and 60% of the total points (SP weight is 0.6 and a total weight of all tests is 0.4).
