Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The course is to acquaint students with problems of Load of Buildings. Students will be acquainted with the basic terminology of building structures, terminology of loads of buildings and types of loads of buidlings. Students will become familiar with the problems of load calculations, loading of elements and load transmission for construction.
Learning outcomes
The student has an overview of the problems of building loads. Student knows basic terminology of building structures, terminology of load of structures, types of loadings of structures. Students have an idea about the problems of load calculations, stressing elements and load transmission on structures.
Syllabus
  • 1. Fundamentals of Structural Design (Principles of limit States Methods, Basic Variables, Structural Analysis). 2. Fundamentals of Structural Design (Method of Partial Coefficients, Combined Loads). 3. Own Weight, Permanent Loads, Live Loads. 4. Snow burden 5. Wind burden. 6. Temperature burden, Loads during Building Construction. 7. The loading from crane machinery 8. Earthquake loads, Exceptional loads (vehicle strokes, Explosion loads). 9. Model example: reinforced concrete slab (construction design, load calculation, structural analysis) 10. Model example: cantilever balcony beam (construction design, load calculation, structural analysis) 11. Model example: stairs (construction design, load calculation, structural analysis) 12. Model example: frame construction (construction design, structural analysis, combined loads) 13. Model example: truss for gabled roof (construction design, structural analysis, combined loads)

Exam conditions
First test: maximum 30% (0-30 points). Final Test: maximum 70% (0-70 points). Successful graduates of the course have to get totally at least 70 points. Possibility to repeat the test: 69,99 – 30, not fulfilled 29,99 – 0.

Attendance in lessons is defined in a separate internal standard of ITB (Evidence of attendance of students at ITB). It is compulsory, except of the lectures, for full-time students to attend 70 % lesson of the subjet in a semeste
