Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The goal of the course is to achieve the B2 level according to CEFR. Students will acquire vocabulary related to the topics discussed within the course and master grammar structures and phrases corresponding to B2 level. Upon successful completion of the course, students are able to start and maintain conversation with a native speaker in English without any difficulties or limitations regarding fluency or rate of speech, without preparation supposing that the topic is general and interesting for them. Students are able to communicate in English both in writing and speaking, fluently, with only a minimum number of mistakes, are able to express their thoughts and idea without any limitation and explain them in detail.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students:
1. are able to start and maintain conversation with a native speaker on any general topic and topic of their interest,
2. can produce a longer speech or written text on a topic of their interest or a general topic,
3. are able to work with authentic materials in English, look up necessary information, summarize it and present it in a new form (presentation, lecture, essay),
4. are able to argue and defend and explain their thoughts and opinions,
5. are able to produce a fluent speech without any major grammar or pronunciation mistakes,

Assessment Methods and Assesment Rate
Test – mid-term 30 %
Test – final 70 %
Exam conditions
Pass successfully the final test (examination period, 70 points max), pass successfully the midterm exam (speaking, listening and essay, 30 points max). The midterm exam takes place before the end of the instruction period, in accordance with the schedule prepared by a course teacher or guarantor. Final test includes grammar and vocabulary corresponding to B2 level according to CEFR. For successful completion of the course, it is necessary to achieve at least 70 points (midterm exam plus final test), i.e. 70 %. The overall grading of the course: Z~100 – 70, X 69,99 - 30, N 29,99 – 0. Full-time students are required to attend at least 70 % of classes within the course. Shall the attendance is lower, the student is not allowed to take an exam. Students with ISP are obliged to inform the teacher and guarantor about this. They are required to pass both midterm exam and final exam.

Students are required to actively participate in the lessons and perform tasks assigned by teachers. The learning material is Unit 1 to 5 of the textbook. The attendance at lessons is governed by Internal Regulations of ITB (keeping records of students' attendance at ITB). The compulsory attendance in seminars for full-time students is 70% In the event of failing to meet requirements for successful completion before the deadline, students are entitled to one retake. The examination date for the retake is announced by a specific teacher or guarantor of the subject within the respective exam period. The continuous and final assessment shall also apply to students with ISP. The student and teacher will agree on the specific date of the continuous assessment. The date must be set no later than two weeks before the end of the semester
