Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge of high school physics and build on it with more advanced knowledge of classical physics; to be able to solve and discuss simple problems on the basis of knowledge of physical principles and laws in order to applications especially in engineering practice.
Learning outcomes
Graduates of the course can explain and apply basic physical principles of solid and fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism and optics, and can perform dimensional tests and design physical measurements verifying the presented physical theory.
Syllabus
  • Brief outline:
  • System of physical quantities and units of measurement.
  • Mechanics of a material point (kinematics, dynamics).
  • Mechanics of the system of material points and rigid body.
  • Work, power, energy and their measurement.
  • Fluid mechanics (hydromechanics, aeromechanics).
  • Mechanical vibrations, waves, acoustics.
  • Kinetic theory of matter, macroscopically measured state of matter and microscopic motion of particles.
  • Thermodynamics, thermal measurements.
  • Physical fields (gravitational and gravitational, electric and magnetic).
  • Electricity, Kirchhoff's laws.
  • Magnetism, Hopkins law.
  • Optics, interaction of light and matter, light detection, sensors.
  • Selected physics problems, principles and applications of physical processes in practice.

Teacher's information
Attendance at classes in all forms is dealt with in a separate internal standard of the VŠTE (Recording of student attendance at the VŠTE). For full-time students, 70% attendance is mandatory at contact classes, i.e. everything except lectures. The overall classification of the course, i.e. points for the test (70 - 0) + points from the continuous assessment (30 - 0): A 100 - 90, B 89.99 - 84, C 83.99 - 77, D 76.99 - 73, E 72.99 - 70, FX 69.99 - 30, F 29.99 - 0.
