Implementace informačního systému podniku je odborně, časově i finančně náročná záležitost, a přitom poměrně velké procento implementací končí neúspěšně. Systém se buď nezavede vůbec, nebo se zavede v podobě, se kterou uživatelé nejsou příliš spokojeni. Nevhodně implementovaný informační systém ovlivní existenci podniku na několik let. K eliminaci tohoto rizika může napomoci implementační metodika. Existující metodiky jsou však často orientovány na velké podniky a rozsáhlé projekty, které i finančně překračují možnosti malých firem. V článku je diskutována metodika implementace informačního systému, orientovaná především na malé podniky. Důsledně se vychází z rozdílů mezi malými a velkými firmami v potřebách a požadavcích na informační systém v různých etapách jeho životního cyklu, počínaje výběrem, samotnou implementací, až po údržbu a další rozvoj.

As the process of a new information system implementation is a very complicated task, it leads to a significant number of unsuccessful attempts. The high rate of the unsuccessful implementations is caused by various reasons, e.g. the underskilled staff, insufficient time reserves or underfinancing. Because the result of the implementation influences the future of the enterprise, it seems reasonable to introduce the methodology for such a process. Obviously, many methodologies for large business projects exist, however, the lack of similar procedures for small enterprises still remains. Such a methodology is discussed in the article. It rigorously results form the differences between small and large enterprises and their requirements for an information system in various stages of the life cycle, from the beginning until the maintenance and further development.
