- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
- The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge in the field of developmental psychology. The basic subject is knowledge of general psychology and personality psychology. The main part of the course is the stages of personality development and their characteristics. Important topics are psychological regulatory mechanisms, disharmonious personality development and the use of developmental psychology in education.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of the course, students
- is familiar with concepts related to personality psychology;
- can characterize the internal and external influences of mental development;
- knows the process of socialization and is able to relate it to the psychological development of man;
- knows schools, theories and important representatives in the field of developmental psychology;
- is familiar with the various stages of a person's mental development;
- understands the relationship between developmental psychology and education. - Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to the subject Developmental psychology, basics of personality psychology.
- 2. Principles and determinants of mental development. Schools and theories that influenced developmental psychology, phasing of personality development according to selected authors.
- 3. Processes of socialization, concepts of conformity, enculturation, personalization and professionalization, stages and mechanisms of socialization, forms of social learning.
- 4. Developmental stages, developmental tasks focused on puberty, adolescence and adulthood, lifelong course and aspects of personality life story development, critical life events.
- 5. Application of developmental psychology, relation to education, didactic principles for various developmental stages.
