Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to make for students reach levels A2+ - B1 according to the Common European Reference Frame for Languages. After successfully completing the subject, students are able to understand common phrases and vocabulary relating to everydaylife (e.g. personality, family, shopping, area of living, job). Students also understand a meaning of clear and short communication and messages. They can read short and simple texts. They can look up specific predictable information in everyday materials, e.g. announcements, brochures, menus and timetables. They understand short private letters. They can communicate in common situations by sharing information about general topics and activities. Students are able to conduct a very short social conversation even though they lack the ability to keep it up themselves. They are able to use various phrases and sentences to describe their family and other people, life, education and current or previous occupation in a very simple way. They can write simple notes or reports relating to their basic needs. The can write a very simple personal letter.
Learning outcomes
Students understand a simple text containing information about everyday life. They understand basic information in simple and clear reports and statements. They are able to conduct a conversation about topical activities - what to do, where to go and where to meet. They can describe activities and experiences from the past. They can shortly describe aspects of everyday life.

Seminars will take place face-to-face in the school premises.

Attendance in lessons is defined in a separate internal standard of ITB (Evidence of attendance of students at ITB). It is compulsory, except for the lectures, for full-time students to attend 70 % of lessons on the subject in a semester. The continuous and final assessment shall also apply to students with ISP. The student and teacher will agree on the specific date of the continuous assessment. The date must be set no later than two weeks before the end of the semester.
