Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The course focuses on understanding complex managerial responsibilities and ethics in a company or in any other institution in the long term. The course introduces an ethical challenge for business and management environment. It provides theoretical basis and bases for responsible thinking, methodology and models of applied managerial responsibility and ethics. The process of ethical decision making is embedded in the appropriate philosophical frame and understanding of its development up to the present. Students will be provided with the starting points and criteria for responsible ethical behaviour in a company using modern ethical tools comparable at the international level. The focus is also on the ability to distinguish ethical dilemmas, attitudes and their application in practice.
Learning outcomes
After successful completion of the course, students are able to:
- understand ethical cause of managerial failures in Czech and foreign companies,
- explain the long-term importance of personal responsibility of a manager and entrepreneur in terms of value-focused thinking and ethical decision making,
- describe the position of entrepreneurial and managerial ethics within economic and social disciplines,
- explain the basic ethical categories and perspectives of management building trust,
- identify ethical dilemmas, differences between responsible and irresponsible behaviour in business decision making and management with regard to its long-term sustainability and societal context,
- evaluate the vision, mission, and strategy of a company from the perspective of ethical dimension,
- implement ethical principles in a company´s code of ethics,
- analyse the system and implementation of corporate compliance programmes,
- implement ethical principles in internal company regulations and create them (including the implementation and creation of codes of ethics),
- be familiar with criminal effect and sanctions.

For successful completion of the course it is necessary to achieve at least 70 % of the course and final test together under the conditions specified below. In the course test, students can get up to 30 points, i.e. 30 %. In the final test, students can get up to 70 points, i.e. 70 %. Grading for the course, i.e. points for the final test (70 - 0) + points for the course test (30 - 0): A 100 – 90, B 89.99 – 84, C 83.99 – 77, D 76.99 – 73, E 72.99 – 70, FX 69.99 – 30, F 29.99 – 0.

Course test:

essay (2 Standard page) – 15 % (i.e. 15 points)

Analysis - code of ethics - 10 % (i.e. 10 points)

Lectures will be pre-recorded and saved in the VSTE IS where it will be available, students will be able to play them anytime.

Attendance in the course is defined in a separate VSTE internal standard (Evidence of student attendance at VSTE) for all forms of study. Students in full-time form of study are obliged to attend at least 70 % of the seminars.
