- Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
- The student will build on the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills from both the bachelor's degree and the knowledge gained from the subject Research Methods in the follow-up master's degree. In the form of practical seminars he will acquire comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for the elaboration of a diploma thesis in accordance with the requirements of this qualification, especially in terms of its structure, introduction, literature review, goal setting, definition of research hypotheses, application of appropriate analytical and research methods, including the presentation of outputs from the solution, the design of measures and the elaboration of the conclusion of the qualification thesis. The student will also learn the principles of processing the presentation of their work and verbal expression in its defense. An integral part of the course is also the acquisition of the formal requirements of the qualification work, including the preservation of ethical principles in its processing.
- Learning outcomes
- Student:
can define the main and partial goals of the qualification work,
understands the principles of setting research hypotheses and verifying them,
practically masters the work with the main database sources available at VŠTE,
masters the principle of analysis of information obtained from information sources,
can process the research part on the selected topic while adhering to the specified parameters (eg citation, qualification, novelty)
knows the principles of working with scientific journals and books,
understands the principles of using analytical methods and the principles of presentation of obtained outputs,
can evaluate the obtained outputs with a practical impact on the user sphere,
knows the principles of elaboration of the presentation of the work and its defense,
respects the ethical principles of processing scientific texts. - Syllabus
- Seminars:
- 1. Assignment of Bachelor´s Thesis.
- 2. Specification of the thesis structure – according to the regulation and teaching.
- 3. – 4. Gathering information (research) – how to work with libraries, databases (Proquest, Scopus, Web of Science), web pages.
- 5. – 6. Recording, study of resources found.
- 7. Literary research – assessment of the resources studied (professional boos, studies in scientific journals and proceedings, theses).
- 8. Theoretical basis – formulation of theoretical findings in the given field. Defining of the current state of knowledge in the given field including the methods of solution.
- 9. – 10. Gathering information (notes etc.) for writing the Introduction in the issue – overview of knowledge in professional literature, interpretation and generalization of the findings obtained from the research activities.
- 11. Specification of the research problém/hypotheses/research questions in accordance with the goal of the thesis.
- 12. Methodology – selection of relevant methods.
- 13. Selection of specific companies (organizations), meeting with their representatives concerning the research, research conditions in specific companies.
- 14. -15. Preparation of questionnaire survey, interview, other reserch – qualitative, quantitative or combined research.
- 16. – 20. Conducting the questionnaire survey, interviews, other research in specific companies.
- 21. Ongoing processing of data and information obtained from questionnaire survey, interviews, other research in specific companies and according to the specific needs of given specializations.
- 22. – 26. Ongoing consultations according to the needs and requirements of the thesis supervisor or consultant, submitting theoretical part and documentation for the application part of the thesis. Analysis of student performance, interview, evaluation of theoretical part of the thesis, ongoing comments to the text.

- Exam conditions
- The student will prepare a professional article related to the topic of the diploma thesis. Scope of work will be max. 10 standard page. The work will have at least 20 citation sources, of which 10 will be from the WoS or Scopus database.

- Teacher's information
- The student inserts the prepared article into a folder created in the IS system under this subject Project. The elaboration of a professional article will be in accordance with the knowledge and skills acquired from the bachelor's study and the subsequent master's study from the subject Research Methods.
Students are obliged to attend 70 % of seminars.
Full-time and part-time form of study: classes will be realized via MS Teams according to the timetable; some seminars will have a form of individual consultations with individual students (based on the topics of articles selected by students; during the whole lesson).
