The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of chemistry, chemical technology and materials chemistry. The course in the introduction summarizes and explains the basic knowledge and concepts of general, inorganic and organic chemistry. The following is the application of basic theoretical knowledge in selected areas of materials chemistry and industry. After completing the course, the student is able to solve basic problems in the field of chemistry and is familiar with the application potential of individual sub-areas.

  • 1. Introduction to (material) chemistry, basic description of atom and its properties 2. Basic nomenclature of inorganic and organic compounds 3. Chemical reactions and their classification 4. Theory of acids and bases 5. Basic calculations in chemistry 6. Interim written test of the curriculum referred to in points 1 to 5 7. Building materials 8. Metals 9. Chemistry of high-molecular compounds 10. Colors and pigments 11. Raw material base 12. Basic equipment and operations in chemical laboratory, characteristics of substances 13. Basic instrumentation for structural analysis of molecules

Attendance in lessons is defined in a separate internal standard of ITB (Evidence of attendance of students at ITB). It is compulsory, except of the lectures, for full-time students to attend 70 % lesson of the subjet in a semester.
