The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to introduce students to different areas of road transport technology and controlling of traffic processes, to familiarize students with legislation and other technical documents for road transport, and to introduce students to basic traffic engineering methods for transport analysis.
Graduates of the course are able to characterize regularities of technology and management of road transportation and use acquired knowledge to solve practical problems in this area. Students will gain knowledge in transport practice by evaluation of exercises, analyzes, presentations and solving real situations in the field of road transport and traffic engineering.
Learning outcomes
Graduates of the course can characterize the rules of technology and road transport management and use the acquired knowledge to solve practical issues in this field. By developing the exercises, analyzes, presentations, methodological skills and real-world solutions in the field of road transport and traffic engineering, they gain knowledge in transport practice.
Syllabus
  • 1) Introduction, national and international legislative regulations in the field of road transport. 2) Division of road transport branches 3) Basic technological and performance indicators in road transport. 4) Basic economic indicators in road transport. 5) Social legislation in road transport 6) Traffic flow theory – basic traffic characteristics, traffic flow quality level. 7) Monitoring traffic intensity, TP 189 and TP 225, traffic surveys, vehicle detection methods. 8) Road transport infrastructure – land transport in intra-villan and extra-villan. 9) Road traffic control systems on city roads, control systems for light signaling devices at road level crossings. 10) Traffic telematics on roads and highways, SW support in road transport 10) Mobility of the population and degree of automobileization in the Czech Republic. 11) Technical inspections and registration of road vehicles. 12) Road tax. Liability insurance for damage caused by vehicle operation. Business in road transport. 13) Motorway fees and toll systems in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Full-time study: - Students will prepare an independent term paper/project according to the teacher's instructions, for which they can receive up to 20 points. - A maximum of 10 points can be received for a teaching activity. - In the examination period, the student will be evaluated for a maximum of 70 points for the written test. Combined Studies: - Students will prepare an independent term paper/project according to the teacher's instructions, for which they can receive up to 30 points. - In the examination period, the student will be evaluated for a maximum of 70 points for the written test. Overall classification of the subject, ie points from the exam test (70 - 0) + points from the continuous assessment (30 - 0): A 100 - 90, B 89.99 - 84, C 83.99 - 77, D 76.99 - 73, E 72.99 - 70, FX 69.99 - 30, F 29.99 - 0.

Attendance in lessons is defined in a separate internal standard of ITB (Evidence of attendance of students at ITB). It is compulsory, except of the lectures, for full-time students to attend 70 % lesson of the subjet in a semester.
