Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basics of management theory. Students will acquire knowledge and practical skills about the nature and scope of managerial functions (planning, organizing, decision-making, leadership, human resource management, communication, control), the position, profile and roles of the manager, management styles, organizational structures and principles of their projection.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
understands the theoretical basis of business management (difference between management and leadership, manager, manager typology, profile, personality and role of the manager),
can define the enterprise as a system, categories of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship, primary and secondary corporate functions,
knows the basic styles of management work in business practice,
can characterise the content and purpose of basic managerial functions (planning, organising, decision-making, leadership, human resource management, communication and control),
knows the principles of designing classical and modern organisational structures.

  • 2. Business, entrepreneurship, primary and secondary functions of business.
  • 3. System definition of business.
  • 4. Position, profile and personality of a manager, formation of the profession of manager, managerial styles.

  • 7. Traditional organizational structures.
  • 8. “Modern” organizational structures.
  • 9. Leadership (motivation and stimulation).

Exam conditions
Interim evaluation: Test – mid-term - 30 points (i.e. 30%) Final evaluation: Final test - 70 points (i.e. 70%) In order to pass the course, you must achieve a minimum of 70% in the summative and final assessment under the conditions set out below. In the interim assessment 30 points can be obtained i.e. 30%. A total of 70 points, i.e. 70 %, may be obtained in the final assessment. The overall classification of the course, i.e. points for the final assessment (70 - 0) + points from the interim assessment (30 - 0): A 100 - 90, B 89.99 - 84, C 83.99 - 77, D 76.99 - 73, E 72.99 - 70, FX 69.99 - 30, F 29.99 - 0.

Attendance at seminars is monitored. Attendance at all forms of teaching is dealt with in a separate internal standard of the VŠTE (Evidence of Student Attendance at the VŠTE). For full-time students, 70% attendance is compulsory at lectures and seminars.
