- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
- The subject is focused on obtaining findings about progressive technologies of production of technical materials used in the engineering practice. Attention is paid to basic technological connections at production and treatment of individual materials presenting: raw materials resources, technology of production and treatment of metals and their alloys. Students get an idea about the basis of technological processes of production, treatment and casting of metals and their alloys which in large measure participate in utility properties of metal materials. This knowledge is the basis for getting an idea about the possibilities of application of technical materials in the engineering practice. Knowledge and competences from the transfer of technical and technological know-how into the processes of economical management of production companies are the results of this study. The study enables to obtain unique findings about the basic technologies of production and treatment of metals and their alloys within the compact technological series during the study of economy and management.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able after finishing this subject:
- to define basic dividing of steel grades, cast irons and alloys of nonferrous metals and to describe mechanical, technological properties of given materials;
- to describe basic processes, refining technologies and secondary metallurgy used during metallurgical treatment of steel, cast irons and nonferrous metals;
- to apply theoretical and practical findings from the field of metallurgy for the management of metallurgical treatment of steel, cast irons and nonferrous metals;
- to use the findings of foundry technologies in deciding about using of suitable metallurgical process and following procedure of treatment at production of steel, cast irons and nonferrous metals;
- to determine basic types of metallurgical defects, causes of their origin and possibilities of their elimination. - Syllabus
