Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issues of air transport technology and air traffic control. Students get acquainted with the international legislation and administration of air traffic, with the whole air transport process, with basic air transport system technological elements and technology, with the importance of air transport in common and the basics of air transport organization.
Learning outcomes
Students when completing the course are able to understand the problems of air transport technology and air traffic control, they are able to characterize specific patterns of air transport, they can determine the appropriate air fares and understand the problematics of the airlines.
Syllabus
  • 1) Importance of air traffic and transport. Aerial transport process. Air carrier. Technical base of aviation.
  • 2) The hostory of Air Transport.
  • 3) Domestic and international aviation law and regulations. State administration and state authorities in aviation.
  • 4) Organizations in air transport (ICAO, IATA, ECAC, EUROCONTROL, EASA, JAA, CANSO, ACI, FARE, IFATCA, IFALPA, EUROCAE and other important transport organizations).
  • 5) Aircraft components. Basic requirements for aircraft design of components and aircraft systems.
  • 6) Aircraft propulsion systems.
  • 7) Commercial and operating models of airlines (Charter model, classic network model, low-cost model). Air transport performance.
  • 8) Air transport process (passenger and freight transport) - system partial transport processes.
  • 9) Methods of air transport capacity determination (Air transport capacity, airplane commercial capacity, fleet capacity).
  • 10. Tariffs in air transport. Airline strategies and comparison of their performance.
  • 11) Organization and management of air traffic. Aviation Infrastructure.
  • 12. Air transport security technology.
  • 13. The technology of air freight transport. Air containers and pallets.

Exam – written 70 %
Test – mid-term 10 %
Seminary Work 20 %
Exam conditions
For seminary work student can receive a maximum of 20 points, within the mid-term test student can receive max. of 10 points and needs to meet at least 60%. Instructions for seminary work determined at the beginning of the semester by the teacher.

A written examination may receive a maximum of 70 points. Total score represents the sum of points for the seminary work and written examination.

Grading Scale:

A 100 – 90, B 89,99 – 84, C 83,99 – 77, D 76,99 – 73, E 72,99 – 70, FX 69,99 – 30, F 29,99 - 0.

The course includes seminars and workshops at the airport in the České Budejovice.
