- Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
- The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the principles of effective time management, both on the theoretical and practical levels.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will learn the history of time management, how to set their personal goals, how to delegate, coach, plan tasks and also to eliminate time inefficient activities. They will learn the methods of efficient time management and effective communication, as well as on how to conduct an administrative agenda. Cultural differences in the perception of time will also be taken into account.
- Syllabus
- 1. Time management and its history (the rise of time management, five generations of time management) 2. Time analysis (the character of time, analysis of a working day, analysis of work) 3. Setting personal goals and priorities 4. Planning and classification of tasks into categories (time planning as an aspect of time management – daily, weekly, quarterly and annual planning, the purpose and general methods of planning) 5. Time management methods (time management according to goals, the Pareto principle, ABC Rule, Eisenhower principle, application of the 60/20/20 rules, day planning methods) 6. Delegation (the goals of delegation, how and what to delegate, the process of delegation, advantages) 7. Coaching in techniques in order to achieve higher work efficiency (the nature of coaching, the effectiveness of coaching, the control of outputs) 8. Time inefficient activities and the methods for their elimination, procrastination (identification of time inefficient activities and the methods for their elimination, the history and development of procrastination) 9. Time management tools (diaries, electronic diaries, thought maps, etc.) 10. Implementation of the time management principles (the methods of starting immediate changes in the organization of time) 11. Meetings, discussions (structures, preparation, benefits of meetings, frequent mistakes in the preparation and evaluation of meetings) 12. Cultural differences in the perception of time 13. Methods of effective communication and how to conduct an administrative agenda (telephoning, electronic mail, application of technologies, planning, etc.)
