Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the technology of concrete and factors affecting its properties. Nex, to explain the technology of concrete structures and reinforcement, quality control and testing methods. In addition, students learn to design simple concrete elements for the basic load cases and masonry constructions.
Syllabus
  • -Concrete as a building material, its uses, benefits, options. -Types of concrete reinforcement bars -The technology of concrete and concrete mix design and technology of concrete structures - Principles of design elements ofconcrete structures, concrete cover, reinforcement splicing - Limit-states design principles and according to Eurocode -Design of features of the plain concrete - Design of an element which is exposed to load by bending - Design of an element which is exposed to load by shear - Design of an element which is exposed to load by pressure -Reinforcement of basic elements - slabs, beams and columns -Assessment of the applicability of concrete structures -Materials for masonry construction and the arrangement of the construction, strength and deformation properties of masonry -Walled structures - technology, design

Exam conditions
Submission of properly developed project is a prerequisite for admission to the exam. Test: (written, oral and practical) the student will receive examples for calculation and questions to answer. The test must be accomplished for more than 50% of the total marks.
