Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic macroeconomic categories, quantities and models - as a theoretical basis for application in practice.
Learning outcomes
Graduates of the course:
- on the basis of cross-sectional economic history can define basic problems of macroeconomics as a theoretical scientific discipline,
- can apply macroeconomic variables and tools on examples of current economic policy (calculation and measurement of macroeconomic aggregates, inflation and labor market analysis, monetary, fiscal interpretation, pension, foreign trade policies, etc.,
- can define basic macroeconomic categories,
- can explain the macroeconomic balance in all markets,
- can appropriately link the acquired theoretical knowledge with real practice and actively use it in other economic disciplines.

  • 4. Models of macroeconomic equilibrium and its disturbances.

  • 8. Monetary aggregates, money market equilibrium, international money market.

The course is taught annually.
Teacher's information
The interim evaluation will be implemented as follows:
  • students will form groups of a maximum of 3 students - we will divide them in the first seminar, including the assignment of topics, in the case of a combined form of study, the students will divide themselves
  • length of the presentation approx. 10 – 15 minutes – regardless of the number of team members
  • number of presentation slides min. 10 – regardless of the number of team members
  • the presentation will contain real numbers from the economy, preferably in time series
  • all team members will always present at the seminar, if someone from the team is absent, they will speak the presentation
  • in the case of a combined form of study, the parameters are identical to the fact that the students will not present physically, but will speak the presentation together
  • presentations will be uploaded by students to the submission office, as the files will probably be larger in the case of a voiced video
Final evaluation in the form of a theoretical test (70 points + possible bonus). In the case of a gain of 50 to 70 points in the sum of the interim and final assessment of the remedial term, the possibility of an oral retest with the examiner of the incriminated term. Attendance at classes in the case of contact classes is dealt with by a separate VŠTE internal standard (Student Attendance Records at VŠTE).
