- Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
- The aim of the course is to acquire theoretical knowledge about interpersonal communication and learn to apply it in model situations.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of the course, students
- is able to define the basic concepts of social communication (communication process, communication channels, communication);
- explain the main elements of rhetorical skills (care of voice, pronunciation, vocal and verbal dynamics);
- can identify the tools of verbal and non-verbal communication used in pedagogical practice and explain the essence of communication skills, taking into account the context of their application in various fields of human activity;
- is able to assess the purpose of individual communication strategies in relation to the link between pedagogical communication, its content, rules, relationship, and link to educational goals, organizational forms and teaching methods, time, and space;
- can distinguish between manipulative and non-manipulative (assertive) behaviors in group and pair communication. - Syllabus
- 1. Social context of communication, contextual modalities, socialization. Internal context, relationship patterns and social stereotypes. Communication models.
- 2. Rhetorical assumptions and skills how to train rhetoric. Training of alertness, speed (tempo), verbal and vocal dynamics, persuasiveness.
- 3. Verbal communication, implicit and explicit communication; denotation. Types of public speech, its preparation. Interview, lecture, meeting, meeting. Dysfunctional communication and verbal communication disorders. Traditional communication channels.
- 4. Communication noise, influencing listeners and the ability to listen.
- 5. The concept of teaching and an adequate way of communication (eg establishing contact, asking various challenging questions and learning tasks, adequate response to students' poor performance, stimulating activity, independence and creativity in teaching, etc.).

- For successful completion of the course it is necessary to achieve at least 70 % of the course and final test together under the conditions specified below. In the course test, students can get up to 30 points, i.e. 30 %. In the final test, students can get up to 70 points, i.e. 70 %. Grading for the course, i.e. points for the final test (70 - 0) + points for the course test (30 - 0): A 100 – 90, B 89.99 – 84, C 83.99 – 77, D 76.99 – 73, E 72.99 – 70, FX 69.99 – 30, F 29.99 – 0.
