- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
- The aim of the course is to extend or acquire knowledge and practical skills in the field of information technology to the level of advanced users with further knowledge in the areas of information theory, hardware and software. Upon successful completion of this course, students understand concepts related to ICT in general, hardware and software. They can effectively work with key applications of MS Office and take advantage of their advanced features. Student can use his skills in further studies, in the creation of seminar and bachelor's theses and in practice.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of this course, students understand basic concepts related to ICT in general and to hardware and software. Furthermore, they will be able to use their knowledge actively in solving minor problems and tasks in these areas. They will also be able to work effectively with key applications of MS Office package and use their advanced features. They can use their skills in further study and practice.

- 1.Presentation techniques - advanced functions MS Powerpoint, other tools for creating presentations and data visualization.
- 2-3. Working with text - advanced features of MS Word and other (eg online) word processing tools.
- 4-5. Working with spreadsheet data - MS Excel and solving problems, basic and advanced level.
- 6-7. Basics of informatics - data, information, knowledge, measurement of information, theory of information, numerical systems.
- 8-9. Hardware - history, architecture and components, virtualization, practical work on related technologies.
- 10-11. Computer networks - architecture and components, types of networks, Internet and its services, cloud technologies.
- 12-13. Software and security in IT - data storage in PC, layer structure of software, operating systems, application and system software, security threats in ICT.

- First Test: maximum 30% (0-30 points). Final Test: maximum 70% (0-70 points). Successful graduates of the course have to get totally at least 70 points: A 100 – 90, B 89,99 – 84, C 83,99 – 77, D 76,99 – 73, E 72,99 – 70, FX 69,99 – 30, F 29,99 - 0.

- Attendance in lessons is defined in a separate internal standard of ITB (Evidence of attendance of students at ITB). It is compulsory, except of the lectures, for full-time students to attend 70 % lesson of the subjet in a semester.
