Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with an overview of social psychology and to provide insight into themselves and their surroundings from the perspective of social psychological thinking. The course covers both traditional topics such as personality psychology, communication or cognitive psychology, as well as focusing on modern aspects of social psychology such as skills in the evaluation of performance and competencies or the area of ​​personal development.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students
- is familiar with the concepts and processes related to social groups and personalities in relation to social psychology;
- has an overview of social perception, distinguishes and is aware of the diversity of attitudes and values;
- can apply knowledge from educational socialization and communication and stress management;
- knows the methods of various evaluations and has an overview of the possibilities of approach to personal growth.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to the subject Social psychology - history of social psychology, related disciplines, main theoretical approach of social psychology.
  • 2. Social groups - types, structure and dynamics, status and roles, norms, large social groups and their culture, crowd behavior, virtual groups.
  • 3. Personality in social psychology - personality traits, personality types, behavior, people management and leadership.
  • 4. Social perception and interpretation of social perception, personality perception, perceptual errors.
  • 5. Attitudes, values ​​and their measurement - creating attitudes, changes in attitudes, central and peripheral attitudes, values ​​and evaluation.
  • 6. Research in social psychology - an overview of basic methods and their applications.
  • 7. Educational socialization - curriculum, teaching goals and work with them, comprehensive educational care (plan, process, barriers, standards, teacher's personality).
  • 8. Teaching communication - actors and factors of communication, influencing the climate of the classroom, perceptual and interpretive attitudes of the teacher.
  • 9. Communication skills - active listening, paraphrasing, feedback, interview techniques, assertiveness, influencing, paralinguistic and nonverbal aspects of communication.
  • 10. Resistance to stress and coping with stressful situations. Personal development - mentoring, supervision, coaching, learning by doing, educational plans.
