The student controls the content of the MAT_a or MAT_z and basics of statistics (random number, distribution function, mean value). The course is open to students of any field. It is especially suitable for students of economic disciplines who are considering going on follow-up study. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
- The aim of the course is to provide students with information for financial decision-making in both business and private finance management. Based on mathematical procedures used in banking, insurance, and financial practice, the course reveals the mathematical behind the scenes of financial and insurance products. Upon successful completion of the course, the student can explain the mathematical methods and procedures that are used in finance and can apply them to important banking and financial products, such as interest, savings, pensions, loan repayment, bills, bonds, stocks. Furthermore, the student is acquainted with the issue of insurance calculations and the methodology of determining the amount of insurance in various types of insurance.
- Learning outcomes
- The student can explain the mathematical methods and procedures that are used in finance and can apply them to important banking and financial products, such as interest, savings, pensions, loan repayment, bills, bonds, stocks.
- Syllabus
- 1. Basic concepts: percentage, averages, sequences, and series. 2. Basic concepts: a certain integral (methods of calculation), basics of probability. Introduction to the company finances: "sparr, ammo, fonder, supply". 3. Interest. Types of interest. Simple interest rates, overdue, basic equations. Discount. Compound interest. Basic equations for compound interest overdue. Mixed interest. Calculation of interest rate and interest. 4. Short- and long-term savings. Pensions as regular payments from the investment. 5. Repayment of the loan, constant annuity, death. 6. Bills of exchange and bill of exchange trades. Discount. Current accounts. 7. Mortgage loans. Consumer loans. Bonds. Shares. 8. Insurance vs. Actuarial Mathematics 9. Specifics of life and non-life insurance 10. Demographics. Mortality charts. Mortality laws. Commutation numbers 11. Capital life insurance 12. Pension insurance 13. Non-life insurance
