- Present form
- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
- The aim of the course is to provide information about the requirements for industrial and processing technologies in terms of minimizing their environmental burden (emissions and waste). Evaluation of the current state and perspective in the development within the framework of sustainable development and fulfillment of the recycling goals of the European Union. The focus of the course is oriented so that the student obtains information in the field of: sources of pollution - environmental risks - monitoring (sensors + classical methods) - technological options for removing and minimizing environmental impacts at present and with a view to the future.
- Learning outcomes
- The student will gain theoretical knowledge about the impact of engineering technologies on the environment. The student will gain an overview of laws and regulations dealing with individual components of the environment and its protection. During the semester, the student will get acquainted with mathematical methods of evaluation and comparison of engineering technologies. Gain basic knowledge of physical factors aimed at the living and working environment and waste management of engineering companies.
- Syllabus
- 1. Methods for environmental impact assessment. 2. Legislative requirements for compliance with limits in the field of environmental technologies and waste management. 3. Methodology for environmental risk assessment with anthropogenic activities. 4. Technological requirements and materials for wastewater treatment (municipal WWTP, domestic WWTP). 5. Use of sensors for identification of pollution in surface and wastewater - the possibility of technology control. 6. Pollutants in the air - requirements for the construction of boilers for local heating. 7. Technologies for removal of TZL, SO2 and NOx for large industrial sources and energy. 8. Modern methods for identification of pollution in air emissions and immissions - sensors. 9. Overview of decontamination technologies for removing old burdens. 10. Overview of equipment for collection and processing of biodegradable waste (composting, biogas plants). 11. Waste management - an overview of basic technologies for treatment and recycling. 12. Industrial production, metallurgy - utilization of waste (slag, dust), energy - fly ash from fossil fuels and biomass. 13. Minimization of environmental impacts of technologies on the environment - requirements for the future.
