The student has the essential knowledge of English language at the level of A2 and is able to perform basic communication skills based on the elementary knowledge of the language.

Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The target of the course AED_4 is to extend the basic language skills necessary for the common written and spoken communication in the studied language. After the successful completion of the course, the students gain the following skills:
- ability to understand meaning of short messages or announcements
- ability to read short and simple texts (personal letter, schedule, etc.)
- partial mantaining a short social conversation
- creation of short writings (acknowledgements, short letters)
The students are prepared to gradually achieve the fixed output level of A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in their productive and receptive skills at the end of the semester. The range of set topics - units 10-12 of the required literature.

Exam conditions
It is necessary to pass a final test (35 questions, each question is for 2 points, maximum of 70 points in total). In addition a student is allowed to achieve up to 30 points in a voluntary oral presentation. The course assessment: pass - 100-70 point, possible re-take - 69.99 - 30 points, fail - 29.99 - 0 points.
