  • 2.:: c :: Select all the alternatives you consider correct (several per question)
    Type: checkbox

:: c :: Select all the alternatives you consider correct (several per question):

    • Score (points) awarded: Please ensure that at least one of the fields making up the form used for entering answers (alternatives) contains 'ok'. The alternatives with the ok string will be considered by the application the correct ones. The score that is to be awarded for an alternative can be entered either in the form of a number, in which case it denotes the number of points awarded/subtracted if the alternative is selected, or that of percentage. Here are some examples:

      ok
      ok 2
      ok 75%
      -1
      -50%

Please make sure that you always separate ok and the value following it with a space. As regards the conditions the student must meet in order to score 100 percent, you will be able to specify these later in the ROPOT description section. The student is usually awarded the score (number of points) assigned to the alternative he/she selects. Unless you assign a score to one of the alternatives, the student will be awarded the default one specified in the ROPOT description section.

    • Options - select one of the options available below the text box:

[1] The choice affects the way the scores (points) are awarded and added up.

      • only the correct answers - the score (number of points) specified is awarded provided all the correct alternatives (and no wrong ones) are selected. In the text format of this question, 'ex ok' is used for this option.
      • scores for all the answers - the student is awarded the scores (numbers of points) assigned to the alternatives he/she selects regardless of whether they are marked as correct or not (you may want to assign negative values, e.g. -2, to the wrong ones). The alternatives with the ok string will be considered by the application the correct ones.
      • all the correct answers - the score (number of points) specified is awarded on condition that all the correct alternatives are selected. Provided you have specified a score (number of points) to be awarded/subtracted for a wrong alternative, this score (number of points) is awarded/subtracted each time the student selects this kind of alternative.
    • To format your text, you can use the HTML editor or HTML tags (the former only applies to the question sections).

Clicking on the magnifying glass icon displays the hidden text.

:: b :: To display the answer, click on the 'key' icon:
What has a head and a tail but no body?
    A coin.

    • The score (points) awarded cannot be specified via the form. However, the ROPOT description section allows you to specify the number of points to be awarded (subtracted) for an unanswered question, which will be used for this exercise, too.
    • To format your text, you can use the HTML editor or HTML tags (the former only applies to the question sections).

  • 13.:: bb :: To display the answers, click on the 'key' icons - multiple hidden answers

However, provided you specify in the ROPOT description section the number of points to be awarded (subtracted) for an unanswered question, this number of points will be awarded (subtracted) for this type of question regardless of what students do with it.

  • 14.:: l :: Enter an algebraic expression
    :: l :: Enter an algebraic expression:
    • This item has been designed to enable teachers to create questions of mathematical type that students are supposed to answer with an algebraic expression. The correctness of the expression is verified by the Maple program, which is capable of assessing different forms of the same expression (e.g. "1/2*sin x" and "sin(x)/2").
However, for the program to be able to evaluate the expression, the latter must have the syntax the program understands.

To ensure the expressions get evaluated correctly, you may want to use a whitelist and blacklist of functions and procedures permitted and deprecated in the solutions respectively.
When entering this type of question, please proceed the same way you do when entering a question of the :t type, i.e. the number of underscores following the :l string determines the length of text field.

Below are some examples of whitelist and blacklist use:

      a question using a whitelist:
      Differentiate the following function: <M>f(x)=cos(2*x)</M>
      :l_________________
      :l="-2*sin(2*x) w[sin, cos]" ok
-- only sin and cos may be used to form the answer

      a question using a blacklist:
      Differentiate the following function: <M>f(x)=x^5</M>
      :l_________________
      :l="5*x^4 b[diff, Diff]" ok
-- the diff and Diff functions must not be used to form the answer

If neither a whitelist nor a blacklist is used in the answer specification, the application will apply the whitelist of the functions used in the correct version.

    • To format your text, you can utilize the HTML editor or HTML tags (the former only applies to the question sections). To enter mathematical expressions, enclose them in <M></M>.
    • Score (points) awarded: Please ensure that at least one of the fields making up the form used for entering answers (alternatives) contains 'ok'. The alternatives with the ok string will be considered by the application the correct ones.
    • The score that is to be awarded for an alternative can be entered either in the form of a number, in which case it denotes the number of points awarded/subtracted if the alternative is selected, or that of percentage.

      Examples: 2, -2, 50%, -25%

    • The percentage is calculated from the value provided in the ROPOT description section.
  • 15.:: e :: Evaluate the answer using an external server

    :: e :: Enter algorithm:
Enter an algorithm to calculate a successor:
Note: The correct answer is the algorithm that converts input values into the correct ones.

    • This type of question is used in the situations where students are expected to produce an expression/algorithm, which may have multiple variations. The students' answers (expressions/algorithms) are subsequently evaluated by an external server, which checks their correctness.

      Examples:

      ok
      ok 2
      ok 75%
      -1
      -50%

There should always be a space between ok and the value.

    • As regards the conditions the student must meet in order to score 100 percent, you will be able to specify these later in the ROPOT description section. The student is usually awarded the score (number of points) assigned to the alternative he/she selects. Unless you assign a score to one of the alternatives, the student is awarded the default one specified in the ROPOT description.
    • To format your text, you can use the HTML editor or HTML tags (the former only applies to the question sections).
    • To enter answers in the right form, please contact the IS development team. In most situations, the teacher enters the correct answer in the form of a:values_used_for_checking. The values provided are subsequently used by the external server for checking the students'answers.
