- The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the transport policy as an important part of the economic policies of each country, dealing with relations to other transport sectors and the entire national economy. The graduate is able to discuss the fundamental issues of transport policy of the Czech Republic and EU transport policy. Graduates of the course can solve specific problems associated with the transport policy of the Czech Republic in connection with the EU transport policy. They can formulate conclusions solving selected problems in the field of transport and logistics in relation to transport policy. Graduates are able to apply the skills and knowledge in practice.
- Syllabus
- 1) Transport policy of the Czech republic. The crucial aspects of transport policy and criteria. Transport policy objectives. Default conditions for the formation of transport policy.
- 2) Transport policy instruments. Principles of transport policy.
- 3) Targets for further development of the transport systems.
- 4) The basic legislative norms regulating the function of transport sectors in the Czech republic.
- 5) European Union and Transportation in EU.
- 6) Integration in Europe - European Free Trade Association. European integration within the European Community.
- 7) Treaty of Rome. Maastricht Treaty. Amsterdam Treaty. Agenda 2000 - the start of reform.
- 8) Institutions of the European Union. EU legislation. Relationships between EU legislation and legislation of the Czech Republic.
- 9) Legal EU standards in the field of transport. Transport policy in the EU.
- 10) Green Paper - public passenger transport in Europe. White paper - Strategy for revitalizing the railways
- 11) Other selected parts of the European transport policy.

- Exam – written 70 %
Project – semestral 30 % - Exam conditions
- Submission and successfully defense of semestral project is a prerequisite for the written exam (required is a form of seminary work according to the Methodology of writing scientific papers VŠTE).
For semestral project student can receive a maximum of 30 points. Instructions for the project are determined by teacher at the beginning of the semester.
A written examination may receive a maximum of 70 points. Total score represents the sum of points for the seminary work and written examination.
Grading Scale:
A 100 – 90, B 89,99 – 84, C 83,99 – 77, D 76,99 – 73, E 72,99 – 70, FX 69,99 – 30, F 29,99 - 0.
