- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
- The subject provides a basic overview of the structure and properties of building materials and their building use. During prctical exercises students are introduces with selected laboratory tests and obtained data evaluation.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course the student:
- can describe the basic raw materials and production techniques of classical building materials
- defines the physical properties and the units
- can characterize different types of cement, lime, plaster, mortar, plaster and concrete, their composition and technical characteristics, behavior
- can find the technical data sheets and work with them, can explain their designation
- orientates in the offer and can explain special adaptations of materials such as steel, wood, glass, asphalt and plastics
- can describe the principles of selection and ordering of building materials.
- can describe and practically apply the processes of measurement, weighing, concrete mix design and determination of concrete strength. - Syllabus

- Attendance in lessons is defined in a separate internal standard of ITB(Evidence of attendance of students at ITB). It is compulsory, except of the lectures, for full-time students to attend 70 % lesson of the subjet in a semester.
