Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The subject is focused on the basic issue of energy machines in terms use of fuel, efficiency, conditions of operation and the impact on the environment. Inter alia, it harmonies and develop knowledge of students from other teaching subjects, especially from the area of thermo-mechanics, construction, operation and maintenance of machines and the economy with the addition of the lots related physics and chemistry.
Learning outcomes
A graduate of the subject can, on the basis of knowledge of the thermal balance of design and to assess the appropriateness of the energy source.
Syllabus
  • 1. Calorific value and the calorific value of the fuel, the excess air, dew point temperature, the temperature of combustion, flue gas enthalpy, the analysis of combustion gases
  • 2. Combined Cycle Gas Turbines electricity generation, cogeneration of heat and power; simple irreversible changes.
  • 3. Otto cycle and Diesel cycle engine, representation in diagrams, types of fuels
  • 4. Compressors, compressor’s work, heat balance, multistage compression
  • 5. Cooling to low-temperature, Compessor’s cooling cycle, cooling by Linde and Kapica process
  • 6. Steam Boilers, steam generators, division and schema, steam accumulator, regeneration, recuperation
  • 7. Scheme of the process in the steam generator in the T-S diagram, the produce heat of the steam, combustion equipments.
  • 8. Energetics and environment, flue gas desulphurization, waste incineration,
  • 9. Alternative types of fuels, non-traditional energy sources
  • 10. Systems of nuclear power stations, fuel and coolant reactors nuclear reactors, IV. generation of nuclear generators
  • 11. Water treatment for industrial purposes and energy, cooling water treatment
  • 12. Desilikation of water during water for steam generators, production of DEMI water; drinking and waste water treatment in ionex
