Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge about economics, the nature of business, typology of companies and legal forms of business, property and capital structure of the company, as well as revenues, costs, economic results, production and supply activities.
Learning outcomes
Graduate of the course:
1. understands the characteristics of the company and can define business, determines the typology of companies, understands the business environment,
2. understands the life cycle of the company, understands the functions of the company, understands the production, sales function of the company, optimizes the flow of inventory in the company,
3. understands the property structure of the company and optimizes the capital structure,
4. evaluates the marketing and logistics of the company, manages employees in the company, understands the financing of the company and the impact of human resource management on the company's finances,
5. understands Facility management and current trends in business economics
Syllabus
  • Lectures:
  • 1. The relationship between microeconomics and business economics: allocation and organizational efficiency, company theory, turning point, business life cycle.
  • 2. Business environment: Establishment of a company, legal norms, strategic national plans and programs, environmental aspects of business, risks associated with entrepreneurship, socially responsible business.
  • 3. Property structure of the company: value and valuation of the company, division of assets, factors influencing the property structure, optimization of the property structure.
  • 4. Capital structure of the company: financial structure of the company, equity and debt, factors influencing the financial structure, optimization of the capital structure.
  • 5. Organizational efficiency: Typology of companies, services and products, position of small and medium enterprises, sectoral classification of economic activities, organization of resources (labor and capital), organizational structures, process management of the organization.
  • 6. Activities and functions of the company: production, inventory management, sales, human resources management, investment decisions, financial management, innovation, facility management.
  • 7. Production: production planning, production management.
  • 8. Inventory management: inventory planning, inventory management methods, supply and costs, purchasing activities of the company, management of purchasing activities of the company.
  • 9. Sales: sales and marketing activities of the company.
  • 10. Human resources management: plans of quality and quantity of human resources, methods in   HR.
  • 11. Investment decision-making and financial management: costs, revenues, sales, profit, economic result in the company's management, cost models in economic calculations, strategic and tactical financing of the company.
  • 12. Innovation of the organization and in the organization: innovation as a tool of business prosperity.

To achieve the successful completion of the subject, at least 70 points must be achieved. Classification scale: A 100 – 90, B 89,99 – 84, C 83,99 – 77, D 76,99 – 73, E 72,99 – 70, FX 69,99 – 30, F 29,99 - 0.

Participation in teaching in all forms is solved by a separate internal standard of VŠTE VŠTE). For full-time students, 70% attendance at seminars is mandatory.

If a student with an individual study plan is not able to participate in the mid-term evaluation, he / she will only pass the final test (100% of the evaluation), which will also cover the continuous assessment with its content and scope. However, students are obliged to contact the teacher immediately after the approval of the individual study plan and to contact the examiner before the final exam. If the student does not do so, his individual study plan will not be taken into account.
