Abstract
Abstract (in English)
An entry in an expert encyclopedia about the case of the colonel Redl (1905-1913), which was the biggest case of espionage in Austria-Hungary. Many historians are convinced that Redl’s treason contributed to the defeats of the Austrio-Hungarian troops at the beginning of World War I. On the other hand, other historians think that Redl did not play a significant role at all but was only a scapegoat for the public who was blamed for the military misfortune.
