Abstract

V originále

The author focuses on small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech Republic, particularly those which deal with growing hops. Agricultural enterprises may largely be included as small and medium-sized enterprises, as defined under Act No. 47/2002 Coll., on The support of small and medium-sized enterprises, as later amended. Furthermore, the author examines the development of harvested areas of hops in hectares and of harvests in tonnes (i.e. the total production of hops) in the Czech Republic over the period 1989 - 2013. Growing hops is influenced by a number of factors, such as weather (i.e. natural factors) or economic factors. Also, the article is focused on comparison of the total production of hops within the European Union as well as other world countries. Apart from that, the author further draws attention to the legal regulations governing provision of subsidies to agricultural production, particularly to hop growers.
