This paper gives an example of a Discourse analysis essay whose composition was assigned to several students of English Studies by the paper´s author during his current employment at an institute of higher education. In order to practise their language skills, these students were asked to submit their written works which would be based on their own selection of a spoken or a written discourse-related topic, it being either formal or informal. Also, the essay was supposed to comprise 1000-1500 words and include in-text references to the provided study materials. Therefore, this paper mainly serves practical study purposes of these students who should see it merely as a proposal of how to approach this assignment or as an illustrative example they may possibly choose to follow when creating their essay.

Tento článek uvádí příklad eseje na Analýzu diskurzu, jehož vypracování bylo zadáno několika studentům předmětu Anglická studia autorem tohoto článku během jeho současného působení na institutu vyššího vzdělávání. Za účelem procvičení si svých jazykových dovedností, byli tito studenti požádáni, aby odevzdali své písemné práce, založené na výběru vlastního tématu, který by se týkal mluveného nebo písemného diskurzu, a to buď spisovného či hovorového. Esej se zároveň měl skládat z 1000-1500 slov a zahrnovat odkazy na poskytnuté studijní materiály. Tento článek tudíž slouží především pro praktické studijní účely těchto studentů, kteří by jej měli chápat pouze jako jakýsi návrh toho, jak přistoupit k tomuto zadání, nebo jako ilustrativní příklad, kterým by se mohli případně řídit při vytváření vlastního pojednání.
