Tento příspěvek je pokusem nastínit a zhodnotit dosavadní vývoj neuniverzitního sektoru vysokých škol (Fachhochschulen) v Rakousku od jeho konstituování v polovině devadesátých let minulého století až po současnost a poukázat na jeho specifika; a to na pozadí dvou klíčových nástrojů: Zákona o studijních programech Fachhochschule a Plánu rozvoje a financování sektoru vysokých odborných škol (I-III), jež měly rozhodující vliv na utváření sektoru z hlediska kvalitativního i kvantitativního. V další části je potom poukázáno na některá specifika rakouského sektoru vysokých odborných škol. Závěrem je zhodnocen celkový přínos dosavadní existence sektoru.

The following contribution is an attempt to adumbrate and evaluate the present development of the non-university sector of the higher education studies in Austria (Universities of Applied Science), form its forming in the middle of the nineties in the last century to the present, and to refer to its special characteristics on the background of two key instruments: The Fachhochschule Studies Act and The Development and Financing Plan of the Sector of Universities of Applied Science (I-III), which had the decisive influence on the formation of the sector from the qualitative and quantitative standpoint. The contribution continues with the summary of some specifics of Austrian sector of Universities of Applied Science. In conclusion, the general benefit of the present existence of the sector is evaluated.
