Abstract

V originále

This article deals with the relationship between telicity, atelicity, boundedness and unboundedness. These concepts, which belong to the categories of verbal aspect, have not been used by linguists consistently. Therefore, this work aims at clarifying the core of the relationship between these terms. To do so, a number of linguistic works focused on the issues regarding verbal aspect and the above mentioned categories, were studied, and based on the relevant literature, this article offers an explanation of how the concepts of a/telicity and un/boundedness are related. It was found out that it is important to distinguish a/telicity from un/boundedness since the verbal aspect of a situation may be changed depending on various factors, namely the grammatical tense, noun phrases, and prepositional phrases used in the context of the verbs.
