Autoři podávají přehled peloidů a peloidních extraktů, zejména rašelinových a slatinných, jejich účinky a možného léčebného využití. Zvláštní pozornost věnují hodnocení kvality života jako nástroje k hodnocení výsledku léčebných intervencí s použitím peloidů a peloidních extraktů. Srovnávají peloidy a peloidní extrakty co do účinku a vhodnosti k ústavní a domácí léčbě. Zdůrazňují okruhy poteciálních cílových osob, u kterých jsou peloidní extrakty slibným preventivně účinkujícím prostředkem.

The authors present a survey of peloids and peloid extracts, mainly peat and fen-peat, their effects and possible therapeutic use. Special attention has been paid to the Health Related Quality of Life assessement as a tool for the evaluation of the results, efficacy and effectiveness of therapeutic procedures using peloids and peloid extracts. The peloids and peloid extracts are compared from the point of view of their effects and usefullness for stationary and home care. The potential target is identified, in which the use of peloid extracts could be a promissing preventive procedure.
