Jedná se stručný přehled z historie variačního počtu, problematiky týkající se Eulerových – Lagrangeových rovnic. Je to připomenutí k výročím úmrtí zakladatelů moderní variační analýzy. V letošním roce uplynulo 230 let od úmrtí L. Eulera, 200 let od úmrtí J. L. Lagrange. Eulerova – Lagrangeova rovnice a její řešení je ilustrováno na jednoduchém příkladu.

This is a brief overview of the history of the calculus of variations related to the Euler - Lagrange equations. It is to commemorate the anniversary of the death of the founders of modern variational analysis. This year we celebrate 230 years since the death of L. Euler, 200 years after the death of J. L. Lagrange. The Euler – Lagrange equation and its solution is illustrated by a simple example.
