With regard to the recent trends in the Higher Education sector there has been a marked increase of student attendance in the lectures. The universities inevitably respond to this trend and address the negative aspects of the teaching of large groups. Apart from psychological aspects, such as the feelings of isolation and powerlessness, there are crucial problems in communication and class management. The universities try to mitigate such negative aspects by a use of modern communication technologies (Facebook, online student support), which attempt to make the teaching student centred. Nevertheless, an effective teaching of large groups remains a problem for the future.

Vzhledem k nedávnému vývoji ve vysokoškolském sektoru dochází k nárůstu počtu studentů na přednáškách. Vysoké školy jsou nuceny reagovat na tento trend a vyrovnávat se s negativními aspekty výuky velkých skupin. Vedle psychologických aspektů, jako jsou pocity izolace a bezmoci, dochází také k zásadním problémům v oblasti komunikace a vedení výuky. Vysoké školy se snaží kompenzovat tyto negativní aspekty použitím moderních komunikačních technologií (Facebook, studentská online podpora) a zaváděním účinných výukových strategií (smíšené modely výuky), jež se snaží výuku více orientovat na studenta. Nicméně efektivní výuka velkých skupin zůstává problémem i pro budoucnost.
