Anotace

V originále

The poor results of Czech students according OECD research, is the consequence of our underfunded educational system. There are several other reasons. The decline of moral values and a proclivity to an egoistic model of behavior is common in our society. Young people cannot find good role models for their behavior. Successful, wealthy people are among those who are egoistical and frequently do not respect the laws. High-quality teachers are leaving the teaching profession due to very low income. Less talented students are accepted into higher quality secondary schools just to fill empty places of these schools and keep them open for business. Schools do not have appropriate funding for the reconstruction of buildings and equipment, except for those schools with ties to local politicians. The quality of textbooks is getting worse thanks to the system of contracts which are not closed according to the quality of the publishing house. The quality of the Czech education system mirrors the ever lower standards of the Czech society.
