The paper deals with physical education as a subject of the current educational system, its inclusion in the curriculum, its history and the changes in its conception. It presents objectives and specific tasks of physical education at all levels of the educational process. At the same time the paper deals with the personality of the teacher, conditions and possibilities during teaching physical education.

Článek se zabývá tělesnou výchovou jako předmětem současného vzdělávacího systému, jeho zařazením do osnov, jeho historií a změnami v jeho pojetí. Seznamuje nás s cílem a konkrétními úkoly tělesné výchovy na všech stupních vzdělávacího procesu. Současně se zabývá i osobností učitele a jeho podmínkami a možnostmi při výuce tělesné výchovy.
