- Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
- Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the issues of technology and management of water transport - inland water and sea. Students get acquainted with national and international legislation and business conditions in water transport, with port landfilling processes, basic system technological elements and technology and the importance of water transport as such.
- Learning outcomes
- Students are able to orientate in the field of inland waterway and maritime transport technology, they can characterize individual patterns and specifics of water transport and they are oriented in the transport conditions and documentation used in inland waterways in Europe and in maritime transport.
- Syllabus
- 1. Inland waterway transport. Basic characteristics. Prerequisites for the development of water transport. Current trends.
- 2. Ships and ship systems. Types of vessels in inland and nautical voyages.
- 3. Infrastructure of water transport. Inland waterways. Geography of the navigation network.
- 4. Agreement on Main Inland Waterways of International Importance (AGN).
- 5. Technology and operating modes on inland waterways.
- 6. Inland waterway ports. Ports as logistic nodes.
- 7. Technical equipment of ports. Terminal of combined transport. Storage and storage of containers.
- 8. Indicators of the performance of port activity. Performance in water transport.
- 9. Carriage of goods along the Danube, the Rhine and the Elbe - the legal framework for freight transport in containers, the creation of a transport contract, transport documents, the liability of the parties.
- 10. Business in water transport. Operational costs of water transport. Transport conditions of water transport.
- 11. Water transport operators. Carriers (shipowners). Port Operators. State Administration in Water Transport.

- The exam consists of a written part. At the same time, students must prepare and present a presentation in time during the semester and there will be a final test at the end of the semester. The student must obtain at least 50% of points from the presentation, seminar work and test. Overall classification of the course, ie points from the exam test (70 points) + points from the continuous assessment (30 points): A 100 - 90, B 89.99 - 84, C 83.99 - 77, D 76.99 - 73, E 72.99 - 70, FX 69.99 - 30, F 29.99 - 0.

- Attendance at classes in all forms is governed by a separate internal standard of VŠTE (Records of student attendance at VŠTE). For full-time students, 70% attendance is required for contact classes, ie everything except lectures.
