Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The course focuses on understanding complex managerial responsibilities and ethics in a company or in any other institution in the long term. The course introduces an ethical challenge to the business and management environment. It provides the theoretical basis and bases for responsible thinking, methodology, and models of applied managerial responsibility and ethics. The process of ethical decision-making is embedded in the appropriate philosophical frame and understanding of its development up to the present. Students will be provided with the starting points and criteria for responsible ethical behavior in a company using modern ethical tools comparable to the international level. The focus is also on the ability to distinguish ethical dilemmas, attitudes, and their application in practice.
Learning outcomes
After successful completion of the course, students are able to:
- understand the ethical cause of managerial failures in Czech and foreign companies,
- explain the long-term importance of personal responsibility of a manager and entrepreneur in terms of value-focused thinking and ethical decision making,
- describe the position of entrepreneurial and managerial ethics within economic and social disciplines,
- explain the basic ethical categories and perspectives of management building trust,
- identify ethical dilemmas, differences between responsible and irresponsible behavior in business decision making and management with regard to its long-term sustainability and societal context,
- evaluate the vision, mission, and strategy of a company from the perspective of the ethical dimension,
- implement ethical principles in a company´s code of ethics,
- analyze the system and implementation of corporate compliance programs,
- implement ethical principles in internal company regulations and create them (including the implementation and creation of codes of ethics),
- be familiar with criminal effects and sanctions.

  • 1. Introduction to CSR: pillars of CSR and modern trends in the field of CSR.
  • 2. Reporting in CSR and the Whistleblowing Act.
  • 3. Sharing economy and social responsibility: a new paradigm of sharing and sustainable business
  • 4. Social entrepreneurship as a pillar of CSR, employment of disadvantaged people.
  • 5. Pathological phenomena at the workplace (discrimination, bullying).
  • 6. Ethical aspects of the use of artificial intelligence, impacts on management and HRM in the organization.
  • 7. Circular economy as fulfillment of the environmental pillar of CSR.
  • 8. Ethics in marketing: a balanced harmony between aggressiveness and CSR.
  • 9. Corruption. Unethical and illegal activities, misuse of business information.
  • 10. Corporate governance and compliance management. Fiduciary responsibility of members of management and supervisory bodies of companies. Criminal liability of legal entities.

Exam conditions
To successfully complete the course, it is necessary to achieve a total of at least 70% of the interim and final evaluation under the conditions set out below. In the continuous evaluation, 30 points can be obtained, ie 30%. A total of 70 points, ie 70%, can be obtained in the final evaluation. Overall classification of the course, ie points for the final evaluation (70 - 0) + points from the continuous evaluation (30 - 0): A 100 - 90, B 89,99 - 84, C 83,99 - 77, D 76,99 - 73, E 72.99 - 70, FX 69.99 - 30, F 29.99 - 0.

The full-time student is obliged to meet the mandatory 70% attendance at contact classes, ie everything except lectures. If the participation is not met, the student will be automatically classified as "-".

Attendance at classes in all forms is solved by a separate internal standard of VŠTE (Records of student attendance at VŠTE). For full-time students, 70% attendance at seminars, and seminars is mandatory.Monitored attendance at full - time lecture.

Students with an individual study plan will take only a 100-point final test in the exam period. However, students are obliged to contact the teacher immediately after the approval of the individual study plan (ISP), if the student does not do so, his ISP will not be taken into account. (In case of any questions, they can contact the subject guarantor via email: 21537@mail.vstecb.cz).
